Online Yoga: A Little Om in Your Home

I started doing yoga about a year ago and, since then, have been amazed at the physical and mental transformations it's brought to my life. While I love to get my sweat on in one of several yoga studios in my area, I don't always have time for 90+ minutes of class plus travel time. The following sites are great for doing yoga at home any time; practices offered are as short at 15 minutes and cover a variety of styles including hatha, vinyasa, and ashtanga:

  • YogaGlo: My go-to site. It offers thousands of classes from some of the most well-known teachers in the country, including Kathryn Budig, Elena Brower, and Noah Maze. At $18 per month, it's a little more expensive than other sites but well worth the price in opinion. I've yet to stump it with a combination of style, length, and skill level. Check out the 15-day free trial to get a taste of what's available.
  • Yoga Today: Based in Jackson Hole ,Wyoming, this site offers a wide variety of classes with the great setting of the Rockies in the background. Again, styles and levels vary; this site launched a weight loss series in 2012 that looks to be a great way to shed those winter pounds. Yoga Today offers one free class per week, subscriptions for $9.99 per month, or individual class downloads for $3.99 each.
  • My Yoga Online: Founded in 2005, this Vancouver-based site is one of the longest-running I've come across. It offers classes in yoga, Pilates, dance, and more — great for days when you're looking to change up the routine a little. Most of the classes are filmed live in a studio, giving the feeling that you're practicing right along with everyone else in the class. Subscriptions can be purchased for $9.95 per month, or $89.85 per year.
  • Yogis Anonymous: Ally Hamilton's studio in Santa Monica, California offers up its classes online. The library here isn't quite as extensive as some other sites, but the teachers are among the superstars in the community — Brock and Krista Cahill, Brihony Smith, and of course, Ally herself. Select classes are streamed live from the studio in Santa Monica for free, and others are made available for free on-demand viewing on a rotating basis. Daily, weekly, and monthly subscriptions are also available.

Those are just a few of the many sites out there; I expect many more to come as yoga's popularity in the U.S. continues to grow. What are your favorite yoga sites? Namaste :)
